Cal Cochran is a 1983 Business Administration graduate of the University of Tennessee. Coach Cochran also holds a Masters degree from the University of West Florida. Coach Cochran was a Tennessee High School All State performer at Ooltewah High School. He played four years for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Moccasins as a point guard. He played on two Southern Conference Championship teams and two NCAA tournament teams. He was a Co-Captain for the Mocs during his senior season which also was the first NCAA Division I tournament victory in UTC’s school history. Coach Cochran is entering his 28th year in coaching. He began his coaching career at the University of Montevallo in 1983. He then, coached at Division I, Alabama State University, 1996-2000. He was the Director of Right Stuff Basketball 2000-2002.

Coach Cochran became the head coach at Pensacola High School in 2004. He led the Tigers to a 62-17 overall record, a .784 winning percentage. In three years he engineered PHS to two state playoff appearances, one being a 2005-2006 Elite Eight finish. Coach Cochran led PHS to two Regular Season District 1 4A Championships, 2005 and 2006. Pensacola High was ranked in the Top Ten by Florida Sports Writer’s Association, each of Coach Cochran’s three years at the helm.

Cochran participated in the 2006 Pete Newell NBA Big Man Camp, where Los Angeles Laker, Center, Andrew Bynum was a participant. He also coached in the 2007 The BIG MAN Footwork Camp with former NBA Sacramento Kings Assistant Coach, Otis Hughley and former Atlanta Hawk Assistant Coach and 17 year NBA veteran, Alton Lister. He was named the 2006 Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) District 1 Coach of the Year. Coach Cochran was selected as the Head Coach for the South All Stars in the 2006 Florida Panhandle Shootout. He was nominated as the District 1 representative for Head Coach for the FACA North – South 2007 All Star Game. Coach Cochran also was the 2007 Co-Sponsor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Pensacola High School.

Coach Cochran was the Daytona State Men’s Assistant Coach 2007-08. He was named the Head Coach for Daytona State College Women’s program in April of 2008. Coach Cochran is 54-33 for a .611 winning percentage in three seasons at the controls. Coach Cochran led the Lady Falcons to the FCCAA State Tournament for the second consecutive year. This was DSC’s first back to back state appearance since 2002-03. The Lady Falcons ended an eight year drought and became the 2010-11 Mid-Florida Conference Co Champions. Coach Cochran was also named 2010-11 Co-Head Coach of the Year in the Mid-Florida Conference. Under his leadership, the 2010-11 season saw DSC receive its first FCSAA Sandy Miller Award winner in school history; Mekiala Qualls became the 2010-11 Student Athlete of the Year in the state of Florida. Eight players have received 1st Team All Mid-Florida Conference honors; Twenty players have received Mid-Florida Conference Scholar Athlete Awards; Eleven players have received FCSAA “All Academic” Team; Two players have received NJCAA Academic All-American and Daytona State College Hall of Fame honors.

He is married to the former Andrea Jackson of Phoenix, Arizona and they have three sons, Calvin III, Caleb, and Jonathan.

Brittany Hudson begins her 1st year as the Assistant Coach for the Daytona State Lady Falcons Women’s Basketball Program. Hudson is from Daytona Beach, FL and attended Mainland High School where she played her freshman year of basketball. After relocating she finished her high school career at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University High School where she helped lead her team to win their first state championship in the school’s history.

Coach Hudson went on to receive a scholarship at Georgia State University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law. While at Georgia State she played 3 years and sat out one year due to a medical hardship. As a freshman before GSU entered the Colonial Athletic Association conference, she helped lead her team to the conference championship game in the Atlantic Sun Conference. After returning from her medical hardship, Coach Hudson received the Ron Curry Determination award for having the determination to work hard and to get back on the court with her team. Having a year of eligibility after graduating at GSU, Coach Hudson transferred to Valdosta State to complete her eligibility where she received All-Conference Honors for her outstanding performance.

Coach Hudson joins the Lady Falcon staff after spending last season at Morehead State as the Director of Basketball Operations. She worked directly with the coaching staff, as well as with day-to-day operations of the women's program, team travel arrangements, game-day management and many other aspects of the program.

Coach Hudson stated, “I am elated at the opportunity to work with Coach Cochran and be a part of the Lady Falcon program. I look forward to not only to coach but also to teach the young women here at Daytona State how to be student-athletes with the emphasis on student first. I am committed to helping Coach Cochran continue to build an elite program.”

Prior to Morehead State Hudson worked with Essence Girls Basketball Program for 6 years. Essence is a prominent AAU program that has a reputable name throughout the national AAU basketball community. While working with Essence, Hudson served as an assistant to the director with the duties of aiding in travel arrangements, serving as a site director of prominent tournaments. Coach Hudson excelled in coaching and teaching the young women in the program as well as many other duties that helped them learn the game of basketball.
