Feb 17 basketball games designated as Sophomore Night

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Jan. 29, 2010) – Daytona State College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will play their last home game of the 2009-10 season, Wednesday, Feb. 17 in the L. Gale Lemerand Center (bldg. 310) located on the Daytona Beach Campus. To mark the occasion, 13 sophomore players will be recognized for their team spirit, playing ability and academic success.

Lady Falcon Sophomores: Zoelis Vega Vega is transferring to Texas A & M Corpus Christie; Tracey Flowers is transferring to South Carolina State; Jacquavia Couch is transferring to Georgia State; Judith Obiero, Tracy Gentry and Lauren Morris are currently undecided about their four-year college choices.

Falcon Sophomores: Eric Valentine, Leke Lewu, Ian Andre’, Ramoane Jordan, Jermemiah  Hughley, Reginald Gilbert, and John Williams are currently undecided about their four-year college choices.

Mid-Florida Conference games tip-off at 6 p.m. with the Daytona State Lady Falcons vs. Central Florida Community College; tip-off for the Falcons is 8 p.m. also vs. Central Florida Community College.

In addition to Sophomore Night, teams will also show their support for breast cancer awareness by wearing pink t-shirts and socks – so get pink’d out and cheer the Falcons to home wins!

Daytona State College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Florida Community College Athletics Association Mid-Florida Conference. The Falcons currently compete in seven Division I NJCAA sports including Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball, Fast-Pitch Softball, Women's Golf and Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. The main focus of the Daytona State Falcons athletic program is to prepare student-athletes for success in life. This is accomplished through strong academic programs and support services coupled with quality coaching and athletic facilities.
