DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Oct. 3, 2011) – Daytona State College’s Human Services Program and Student Activities Department plan to mark national Red Ribbon Week with an event to bring drug and alcohol abuse prevention awareness to students, faculty and staff. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the ECHO Plaza located on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 West International Speedway Blvd.
The national Celebration brings millions of people together to raise awareness regarding the need for alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention, early intervention, and treatment services. It is the largest, most visible prevention awareness campaign that’s been observed annually in the United States since 1988.
The event will feature music, refreshments including non-alcohol frozen drinks, and representatives from local community agencies.
The event is free and open to the public.
